Introducing Agent Fest Online Faculty Vicky Weber of Creative Media Agency

Welcome Vicky Weber!

Vicky Weber is a former elementary school teacher turned bestselling children’s book author and literary agent at Creative Media Agency. She represents commercial fiction – board books through adult – but specializes in children’s literature. In all manuscripts, she wants intensity in the writing—to be dropped into the moment and experience the story alongside the characters. If a book is high-concept, commercial fiction with beautiful, literary-leaning prose, it’s probably up her alley.

Vicky Weber is taking pitches (when you register you can pitch to up to three agents).

She will present the session Pre-publication Marketing” – Your marketing starts before publication. From building an author brand to leveraging social media, this class shows how to grow an audience that’s eager to buy your book the moment it drops. Practical, actionable strategies for all genres.

Q&A with Vicky

MWW: Marketing can be a fraught topic with authors, to be sure. What are some of the simplest elements of marketing that writers can start thinking about and implementing today?

VW: Marketing can feel intimidating, but at its heart, it’s really about connection. Instead of focusing on “selling,” think about ways to genuinely share your story and build relationships. Start with the basics: know who your book is for (parents, teachers, librarians, or kids themselves), share the why behind your story, and pick one platform where you can consistently show up. You don’t need to do everything all at once—small, authentic steps go a long way.

MWW: If a writer has missed out on some pre-publication marketing opportunities and they have already published, what are some ways they can gain back that ground?

VW: Books don’t expire! You can always create momentum again by planning a relaunch around a holiday or theme, reaching out to bloggers and reviewers, or connecting with schools and libraries that are hungry for fresh, quality titles. Offering author visits or classroom resources can really help your book find new life. And if you have more than one book, consider bundling them together or partnering with another author for cross-promotion. There are always ways to reignite excitement.

MWW: Will you give our attendees two truths about yourself and one lie?

VW:

  • I once worked at a haunted house during college.
  • I am absolutely terrified of birds.
  • I can play the trombone.

MWW: What’s the best book you’ve read so far in 2025?

VW: The best book I’ve read so far in 2025 is Serial Killer Support Group by Saratoga Schaefer, published by Crooked Lane Books in March 2025. It’s dark, witty, and thriller-perfect—absolutely impossible to put down!

All attendees will receive available session materials and have access to the recordings for 90 days following the event

Are You in a Writing Slump? Write With Us!

The “Wednesday Write-In with MWW” is a 30-minute Zoom session, first Wednesday of the month, where we get together and WRITE.

It might seem weird to have the Brady-Bunch Zoom screen filled with people not talking to each other, but please trust me: It works. It creates an accountability; it creates a space where your sole purpose is to get words down on paper. I might allow for a *little* chit-chat 🙂

To accommodate people’s availability, we will alternate morning sessions and evening sessions. Let’s dedicate 30 minutes of our day, once a month, to generating words and developing our craft!
