Why attend?

Expert Faculty

MWW20 features a remarkable faculty who know their stuff, providing information for both aspiring and practicing writers at all stages of their journey. MWW20 offers a gathering place for writers looking to improve their craft.

Networking

MWW20 will allow you to connect with fellow writers and gain insight from award-winning authors who will help you move forward in your writing career, regardless of whether you’re a beginner or a veteran of several books. Wherever you are in your writing career, there is something new that you can learn at this writing conference. It’s a fantastic networking opportunity, and it will allow you to grow as a writer.

Something for Everyone

On Thursday, we have options for everyone! We’re offering genre-specific learning sessions designed for writers serious about pursuing a given genre. You will spend the day with the instructor and other writers who share your interest. These Intensive small-group sessions are limited to small class sizes.

  • If you are a published author or about-to-be-published author (even unpublished writers are welcome – the skills can be put to use at any stage of one’s career), you can choose Email Marketing with Jane Friedman.
  • Are you facing the blank page, or does it just feel like it? Has it been a while since you saw your story manuscript, or are you simply stuck somewhere around…page 35? If you’re ready to give novel writing a try—for the first time or maybe one more time—sign up to learn strategies to get started, to keep going, and to get that first draft finished, finally. Choose Novel Writing for Blank-Page Beginners with award-winning author Lori Rader-Day.
  • Session to hone your first 10 pages! As many writers know, agents and editors won’t give your work more than ten pages or so to make an impact. If you haven’t got them hooked by then, it’s a safe bet you won’t be asked for more material. Make sure you’ve got the kind of opening they’re looking for! In Manuscript Makeover, you’ll get input to refine the first ten pages, for fiction and nonfiction.

**NEW three-day Catapult Your Writing Workshop. This intensive will expose writers to the critique process in a positive environment and foster the idea of collaboration as an imperative skill. Learning the fine art of critiquing will prepare writers to work with editors, understanding that criticism is not personal, and looking at their own work in a clearer, more honest way. Topics addressed in the workshop include craft, style, plot, characterization, grammar, and more. This community experience will expose writers to each other at all stages of the development. Every work will be considered by its intention in a supportive and safe environment with the focus on making the manuscripts the best they can be in the time shared. Limit 12 students.

Whether you come for all three days, or two days, or just one day, you will depart MWW20 equipped and motivated to take the next step in your writing journey.
